What is a Paraclete? ("Pare-uh-cleet").
The Paraclete program at Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church is a volunteer,
lay counseling ministry with two important parts: 1) the training and
commissioning of lay counselors, and 2) providing lay counseling
ministry to the community at no charge.
The
Paraclete lay counseling ministry is firmly rooted in Christian values,
ethics, and principles and is based on the idea that all Christians are
the ministers of the church. A Paraclete comes alongside an individual
and use helping and problem solving skills-- all while remembering that
Christ is the Healer. Here's another benefit of the Paracletes:
These trained lay leaders provide additional support to the pastoral
staff by reaching more people in the congregation and in the community.
Think
you might benefit from a trained and caring Paraclete? Ever wondered if
you might have the gifts and skills to be a trained and caring
Paraclete? Give us a call in the congregational care office and we'll
put you in touch with the right folks.
