hwellsPastor Emeritus

Dr. G. Henry Wells served as Senior Pastor of Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church from 1985-2008. Considered for years to be the unofficial pastor of Sacramento, Henry continues to have a passionate interest in the spiritual renewal of the region.

Henry’s long list of Christian service includes the boards of The Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Law Enforcement Chaplaincy, and Release Time Bible Class. During the Sacramento Kings' first 6 years in Sacramento, Dr. Wells served as Team Chaplain. He also served on the Board of Directors for Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington, and the Board of Directors for the Presbyterian Coalition. Dr. Wells has held numerous positions in the Sacramento Presbytery including Vice Moderator and Moderator, Committee Chairs of Stewardship, General Council, Nominations, and Committee on Ministry, and was the Commissioner from the Presbytery to the 208th General Assembly.

Dr. Wells has taken part in every major local evangelistic outreach. He was Vice President of the Billy Graham Crusade’s Executive Committee and has served similarly in the past with the Harvest Crusade, the Tony Campolo Outreach, and the Sacramento Evangelistic Outreach. He served as Co-chair for the Jubilee for Jesus Christ, 2000.

Evangelism was also at the heart of Henry’s ministry before life as a pastor: He worked with the Haggai Institute of Atlanta as Crusade Director, traveling extensively with founder John Edmund Haggai. He is still active with the Institute in an advisory capacity.
