Wendy has a heart for Christ, a passion for making learning fun for children, a desire to make Him known in exciting ways, contagious enthusiasm, and innate leadership skills.

Wendy grew up in the Bay Area before moving to Sacramento to attend CSUS, where she majored in Physical Education. While there, she met her future husband Scott. Scott grew up in Fair Oaks and attended Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church. Both lived outside the area for some time then returned in February of 1992, to be married here at FOPC. In 1994, after living in Redondo Beach , they moved to Gold River and started a family. Twins MacKenzie and Connor were born in April of 1996, and baptized at FOPC. Scott was soon transferred to Albuquerque , New Mexico , and, later, Virginia , where he worked in Washington , DC . While in Virginia , Wendy was the Director of Children’s Ministry at Greenwich Presbyterian Church in Nokesville. She successfully developed a dynamic ministry that energized the congregation and continues to thrive today. Wendy’s outstanding credentials also include serving as the director of Early Learning Preschool in Albuquerque, the regional director for S.T.A.R., a non-profit enrichment program that contracts with public school districts in Granite Bay , a teacher for S.T.A.R. in Los Angeles , and the Youth Activities Director at the Concord Naval Weapons Station. Her vast experience working with children, supervising staff, and developing dynamic programs will bring new life and energy to our Children’s Ministry Department here at FOPC.

Wendy, Scott and ten-year-old twins, MacKenzie and Connor live in Gold River where they hope to stay permanently. Last fall, Wendy walked into the Children’s Ministry Office to apply for the Childcare Coordinator position, the same week that the Children’s Ministry Director position became open. The Children’s Ministry Director Seeking Team believe that God sent her to us at just the right time. In her own words, Wendy says, “If God calls me to this position I feel I can bring a new vision and enthusiasm to this ministry. I am passionate about children’s ministries and in finding innovative and exciting ways to teach children about Jesus. I feel God has prepared me for this position through my previous work experience and if chosen I would feel humbled and grateful to be doing God’s work at Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church.”
