Once again, the Fair Oaks Chancel Choir is heading up to the beautiful Zephyr Retreat Center at Lake Tahoe this August for a weekend of learning, worship, and fellowship.
This year's retreat clinicians are Dr. Jonathan Nelms and his wife Glenda. The Nelms are a veteran, multi-talented team with years of music ministry experience. Jonathan was a doctoral student with Pastor Chris and he presently serves as Music Minister at First Baptist Church of Cookeville, Tennessee. The Nelms are both natives of Nashville, TN, and they have two boys, Nathan and John Philip.
Jonathan and Glenda have masters degrees in music and both are particularly gifted educators (their work with children's and youth choirs is exceptional). Recent ministry highlights include: A performance by the Sanctuary Choir at Carnegie Hall, New York, January, 2006, and a choir mission trip to Barbados and Dominica, March, 2007. In June of last year, Jonathan's Youth Choir sang as the demonstration youth choir at national meeting of the Baptist Church Music Conference, Winter Park, Florida.
This will be the Nelms' first trip to the Golden State and we are so pleased and proud to have them visit. Welcome to California, Jonathan and Glenda!
