Malawi Update PDF Print E-mail
malawian digging up rocks may.jpgThe progress being made on the Thuchira Hope Center is incredible. Every time we get new pictures we are amazed at how much has been done. Things we take for granted like bricks, water, and rocks are much more challenging in Malawi. Water needed for the site is trucked in and carried by the ladies in buckets. They walk back and forth all day for the equivalent of $1.10. Small rocks have to be broken apart from big ones and it takes about 2 weeks for one person to make a pile and they use 5 or 6 piles every few days. Bricks have to me made by hand and construction grinds to a halt until more are made. We ask that you continue to hold Mark and Tom up in your prayers as they oversee this project in Malawi.

Haiti Update PDF Print E-mail

nadiege in tent.jpgTwo employees of the Real Hope for Haiti Rescue Center found Nadiege and her two children living outside where they burn their garbage. They were able to find her a tent (purchased by funds from FOPC) and realized quickly that she was very ill. She couldn't walk at all on her own. They took her in for testing and found that she is HIV Positive. Thankfully, both of her children are negative.

They moved her tent back to an area where several earthquake victims have been recovering. This little "community" has been established under the mango and coconut trees behind the RC. People and families from many different circumstances have come together. They take care of each other and watch each other's children and laugh and talk together as they heal and try to figure out what their futures will hold.

The tents that FOPC purchased are being used to house families and/or being used at the medical clinic. The rescue center has just been moved to a home that was not damaged and improvements are now being made to accommodate all the children. Please continue to pray for the people of Haiti.
