Health Ministry

The Health Ministry Mission is to promote wellness of mind, body and spirit through education and the sharing of health resources with the church community. Our programs include:

1. We have medical equipment available to be borrowed by anyone in our church of community. The items available are: wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches and commodes. If you would like to borrow equipment please contact the church office, (916) 967-4784.

2. Have your blood pressure tested the last Sunday of each month between services in the Fireside Room. Look for signs on the quad for directions.

3. Did you know there are eight first aid kits on our campus? There are signs posted near each kit.

4. The Health Ministry Team has provided two AEDs (automatic external defibrillators) in case of a cardiac emergency. One is located in the sanctuary near the bride’s room and the other is in the Family Life Center near the coffee counter.

5. AED/CPR classes are offered throughout the year. Watch for notices in the bulletin. These classes have a nominal cost and may help save a life. Everyone is welcome.

6. Check in the library for health related books recently purchased. There are several on general health, arthritis, diabetes and heart failure. These books are available to all and are a great resource.

7. Watch for the Health Ministry table on the quad the third Sunday of each month. There is always information available and professionals there to answer questions.

Check out our bulletin board on the stairway to the sanctuary from the quad.
If you would like to join the Health Ministry Team we would love to have you.

Grief Recovery

Next Class: January 13 – February 17, 2009 • 7 – 9 PM

Whether the loss of a loved one was recent, or some time ago, this very special course may be for you or someone you know. FOPC reaches out not only to its own congregation but also to the community to assist hurting people in an intentional way through the grief process.

This is a six-week class, strictly confidential, and held in a caring, Christian environment. Classes are closed after the first week. Sharing in a private setting is healing and also enables a person to grieve a loved one in healthy and helpful ways. The course is normally offered twice a year.

To register, call Mary (916) 967-4784, ext. 876 or email mrigney@fopc.org. Cost: $10 fee covers all materials.
