We are saved to worship God. All that Christ has done for us in the past, and all that He is doing now, leads to this one end. –A. W. Tozer

Worship Pastor Chris Alford comes to us from the South. He completed undergraduate studies in music history/music literature at both the University of Tennessee and overseas at the Victoria University of Manchester, England. He later earned a Master’s Degree in Musicology from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Chris was ordained and began a life of ministry in 1992.

bob.gifWhile working toward an additional Master’s Degree in Church Music at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, he discovered a then brand-new doctoral degree program in worship offered by the Institute for Worship Studies (IWS) headed by the late Robert E. Webber. He considers Dr. Webber his greatest theological influence and mentor. Chris completed the program and graduated with the Institute’s inaugural “Alpha" class in the spring of 2002. His doctoral thesis focused on the church, worship, and the shift in culture from modernity to postmodernity. One of Webber's final projects was the "Call to An Ancient Evangelical Future", a document that is having far-reaching implications for worship and a lens through which Pastor Chris sees his ministry at Fair Oaks.

Chris has a personal worship e-newsletter that he'd be happy to have you subscribe to. Just drop him a note here and he'll add you to the list: E-Mail Chris

Rev. Eric Amundson

God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him. –John Piper

Our newest addition to pastoral leadership, Eric is a native Californian coming "home" after twelve years of ministry in Buffalo, NY. Raised in Newport Beach, he attended Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School near Chicago, and Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey. He’s currently in the midst of pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree at Fuller Theological Seminary focusing of Spirituality. Following Seminary, Eric worked for two years in a faith community serving homeless youth and children before moving to Seattle where he was ordained.

Eric comes to us from Bethlehem Presbyterian - an urban-residential congregation in Buffalo - which worked in a unique, exciting partnership with a close-by suburban congregation – Knox Presbyterian. The pastors worked together both to grow the ministry of Knox and to transform the ministry of Bethlehem to a vital, neighborhood based church reaching a diverse community.
